Right on schedule, the Stena Forerunner gets ready meet MARPOL compliance with the new CR Ocean Open Loop marine exhaust gas scrubber.
The Forerunner is part of the STENA RoRo AB fleet, from Gothenburg, Sweden, a leader in the on/roll off cargo and passenger concepts (commonly referred to as RoRos and RoPaxes), and a leader in the development and deployment of technologically advanced vessels (www.stenaroro.com). .
The Forerunner operates primarily in the European ECA (Emissions Control Area) where stringent, new low sulphur fuel regulations went into effect on January 1, 2015.
The CROE® exhaust gas scrubber will allow the vessel to meet the low sulphur MARPOL requirements for compliance, as they reduce the SO2 content of engine flue gas to below that found in 0.1% sulphur fuel (the equivalency standard) even when burning high sulphur fuels.
